Looking at this feature on adding monsters to thrift store paintings just reminds me of how much less creativity amateur american artists have than japanese ones. I’m not really sure why that is the case.
The Japanese monsters we’re more used to are things like this:
the monster in the same lift as chihiro
the stink spirit she had to run the bath for.
All the american ones have two eyes, two ears, and are usually furry :S
I mean it is creative to take thrift store paintings and add stuff to them (only the first one seemed well done), but I don’t think the monsters that guy came up with were any good. He definitely needs to read more manga!
