A common response I get to my confession of mediocrity is:
“If you’re mediocre, then what am I?”
It’s so blatantly obtuse, so far off the mark that I cannot even think of an answer to dignify it.
People who are convinced of their own mediocrity are not interested in comparing themselves to other people. It is purely a matter of self-knowledge – how little you know is not defined in relation to how little other people know.
I cannot see how anyone could expect to cheer you up by claiming to be more mediocre. Is that cheering? Sucking is hardly something that requires a team effort. Is sucking together supposed to be better than sucking alone?
Ubuntu is dead.
